PILATES EQUIPMENT

Below are Individual pieces of equipment used in Pilates training including descriptions, and demonstrations for use.

HIGH LADDER BARREL

The Pilates High Ladder Barrel is used to enhance flexibility of the spine and strengthening of the body core. It offers challenging abdominal exercises and flexibility movements that stretch and strengthen the entire body.

HUMP BARREL (SPINE CORRECTOR)

The Hump Barrel is used for stretching, aligning and strengthening the spine. It relieves shoulder and hip stiffness and other common ailments of the back.

CADILLAC

The Cadillac was originally created by Joseph Pilates as a massage and therapeutic table. Today it resembles a single four-poster bed with springs, wooden bars and hanging trapezes; and it challenges even the most fit. Concentration is a must in order to work your arms, legs, trunk and entire body against the various spring tensions and positions this equipment affords.

LOW CHAIR

The Pilates Chair is used in a multitude of exercises, one of which is demonstrated here. The movable platform and the tension springs provide a balance reference and assist the muscles in a way that allows the muscles to lengthen under tension while reducing risk of injury to the muscle.

MVe CHAIR

This chair is an evolutionary take on the original Low Chair, pictured above. The MVe Fitness Chair brilliantly integrates a lightweight, open frame with a sleek, stackable design. The MVe's patented spring changing system is incredibly easy to use, allowing you to change resistance levels without ever removing or wrestling with springs.

REFORMER

The Universal Reformer, known as the Reformer, is the most popular piece of equipment and one of Joseph Pilates' original inventions. He believed beginning exercise in the horizontal plane was important to relieve the stress and strain on the joints, and to align the body before adding additional gravitational forces through the central axis while standing, sitting or kneeling. Classically, there are more than a hundred movements created for the Reformer, each dependent and built upon the other.

PED-O-PUL

The Ped-o-Pul exercises challenge the body against gravity with the assistance of the “pole,” which essentially represents the spine.
